As a child, Alexander Sands loved dogs and always felt a strong connection with them. He was born in Dracut, Massachusetts, and spent his childhood on the east coast, growing up near New York City. His first dog was a cock-a-poo-Corgi mix named Phoenix, whose name may have foretold his future. After working as a professional dog groomer for seven years, in three different states, he settled in Phoenix, Arizona.

Alexander is a trainer because he wanted a connection with dogs that is more personal. Once he understood that he could save dogs from being euthanized, it was like hitting a sentimental gold mine for him. He believes that educating people about dogs is also equally rewarding because, "..when we understand them, we can cultivate better relationships with them."

Whenever Alexander isn't focused on his goal of becoming a master trainer and eventually operating a Metro Phoenix training center with Anton Yablonsky, he likes to improve his house in order to make it more relaxing. He enjoys spending time with his daughter, family, and friends. During his personal time, Alexander likes to read, cook, hike, and focus on creating digital images in Photoshop.
