CARMEN MCNAMARA'S BACKGROUND
Carmen was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on an Air Force Base. When she was still a baby, the family relocated to Fort Collins, Colorado. At the age of twelve, Carmen’s family once again relocated to Arizona, where Carmen attended school at Arizona State University.
Growing up Carmen had all types of Animals. She housed and cared for dogs, lizards, rabbits, guinea pigs, cats, and the list goes on! It wasn’t until she had a boxer by the name of “Murphy” that she realized how crazy she was about dogs.
After spending over twenty years in the Electronic/Manufacturing industry, Carmen decided to change her career to something that she loved. She started volunteering with Boxer Luv Rescue where she adopted her third boxer by the name of “Wilson”. Shortly afterwards, she volunteered for a Pit Bull rescue where she met “Louie”, an un-socialized Blue Pit Bull that she grew very fond of.
Carmen cared dearly for “Louie”, but she had problems working with him and getting him adopted out. This is when she met Anton Yablonsky. Anton assisted Carmen in training and finding “Louie” his forever home. In the process, Anton and Carmen became really good friends.
Shortly thereafter, Anton found Lorenzo's Dog Training Team, and, with some encouragement from Carmen, he became a trainer with Lorenzo’s and has since had much success. Three years later, Anton returned the favor and encouraged Carmen to join the team and become a trainer as well!
Carmen’s goal is to help dogs stay in happy homes with their families. Her desire to help people with their canine companions is driven from a personal experience. In the past, she’s had to give up a personal dog due to behavioral issues. She understands what that can put a family through. Therefore, she is on a mission to eliminate these problems.
When Carmen is not training, she enjoys spending time with her husband Rich and their two dogs, “Kelly & Kenzie”. She and Rich enjoy horseback riding, rock climbing, and dancing together.
CLIENT TESTIMONIALS
We are so very thankful our vet recommended Carmen! We adopted a 7-month-old Pit/Boxer mix who had experienced trauma from a gun shot wound and being hit by a truck. If that wasn’t bad enough, Chance had been previously adopted and returned to the shelter. I wanted to be a good dog owner and make a great home for Chance. I started by trying to take him on walks where he was either pulling on the leash or stopping to smell every 15 seconds.
Chance was a very large, excitable puppy. This meant constant jumping on people (including our young son and guests).
After 1 lesson with Carmen, Chance was able to sit and stay for 45 minutes! Now, he “heals” perfectly on the leash and enjoys long hikes in the mountains with his family. It’s so fun that he can go out with us and enjoy going to places like PetSmart and Home Depot, and even get lavished with attention and praise from employees and strangers. Carmen assisted our family and Chance by helping us understand dog psychology, and now we have a precious, happy, well trained dog! And Chance has a secure, forever family. I can’t recommend Carmen high enough. She’s worth every penny!

Before you give up on your dog, there is still hope. We have a Cattle Dog/Australian Shepherd mix named Phoebe, and she is 17 months old. From the beginning, she has been extremely hyper, aggressive, and plain out of control. She barked incessantly at guests and noises. She chewed on shoes, remotes, wires, and anything that was lying around. There was no way to walk her without her pulling and barking at everyone and everything. Even though I tried to keep her at my side, the leash was tearing up my hands. And the absolute worst part was her nipping and biting at family and guests. I was ready to give up on her when she bit my 10-year-old son's face. Everyone was afraid of her and with good reason.
Our trainer, Carmen, came in and suggested in-home training, but once she saw the aggression, she took her home with her and even gave us a break on the cost for boarded training. Carmen wanted to do everything possible to give Phoebe a chance, but most importantly, she wanted to make sure that we would be safe.
Phoebe is a new dog. We love to take her for walks, and she doesn't pull and bark at other dogs or people. She is no longer chewing on things, and she is no longer messing in the house. We tell her to stay, and we can walk away and feel confident that she is safe and so are we. We were able to take down gates and gain back control of our home. Phoebe is now more loving and pleasant to be around.
We are forever thankful to Carmen and Lorenzo's.

I'd like to thank Carmen McNamara of Lorenzo's Dog Training for helping turn my Henri into a dog that gets compliments for not only his good looks but for his GREAT behavior! I've had Henri since 2011, and he has always been a handful. Going anywhere with him was always a two-person job. As a single mom, this has meant a lot of staying home! I couldn't take him for a simple walk around the block because he would be the one walking (or running) me, and almost never in the direction that I wanted/needed to go. That's very hard to do while having to watch over my 5-year-old son.
Carmen proved that her methods would be effective from the very first time we met for an evaluation, and I was immediately excited to begin training. Henri is literally and figuratively exceptionally hard-headed and made me think he might actually be untrainable, but she never gave up on him (or me)!
She went above and beyond for us when my family was facing medical hardships by taking Henri home for training. I was able to relax and focus on my son while knowing that Henri was not only learning but was well taken care of and loved! It was very clear how much she cared for him. I did not feel like just a client.
Now, I can enjoy nice trips to the park knowing that Henri will walk right next to me and won't have me running around all over the place! I can't thank Carmen enough.
I would definitely recommend her to anyone with stubborn dogs like my Henri!

My wife and I were recommended Carmen by our veterinarian because we were having aggression issues with our one-year-old Pit Bull mix. Carmen came over and did a consultation, and within only a few minutes we could tell she was the trainer for us. Our dog, Kylo, not only loved her, but listened to almost every command she gave. She made the training easy for us to understand, and made sure we both had a chance to practice with our dog at every session. After only a few sessions with Carmen, Kylo not only listens much better, but seems to even look forward to seeing her. We can't wait to start our off leash training with her soon! For any one looking to train their dog, or having any issues with their pet, I highly recommend you give Carmen a call.

Carmen is awesome! She truly knows how to work with dogs and do it without intimidating or hurting them. I never thought training would be so simple... especially without food treats! Love ya, Carmen McNamara... and miss you!
