GEORGE MATIC'S BACKGROUND

George is a native of Cleveland, Ohio who relocated to suburban Dallas. While still living in Cleveland, he adopted a rambunctious 8-week-old German Shepherd puppy, whom he named Skye. As Skye grew, she developed quite a dominant personality. Her behavior became more and more challenging to the point that George realized that something needed to change.

After trying treats, spray bottles, and clicker training to no avail, George turned to Lorenzo's for help. Like many of our trainers, George was a client first. His pup went through On and Off Leash Basic Obedience, Retrieval, and some personal protection training. She passed the Canine Good Citizenship and Therapy Dog International tests — all off leash!

When he's not training or caring for his fostered German Shepherd dogs, George is a classic car enthusiast. He is also passionate about scuba diving to shipwrecks and Caribbean reefs.

Jocko (Boxer) adores his "Uncle" George which tells me a whole lot about how my dog is treated by him. Reann Phillips, who worked with my dog for the first week, is amazing. She sent me pictures. One had my dog standing with a kitty underneath him. NEVER thought I'd see that! Nothing but love for these folks.

Our "boys" have been with us for 4 and 5 years and suddenly developed behavior problems. Our Vet recommended George. George came out and did an evaluation, and our ride began. The boys were assigned to Athena. I never met Athena but exchanged several texts, and she sent pictures which put my mind more at ease. We are in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and have now experienced the fun of taking our boys to the many dog friendly restaurants and parks in the area. We actually got compliments on their behavior. Before they were people friendly but didn't like other dogs. They got aggressive and we were afraid to take them out especially after I found myself using a walker due to back problems. I just couldn't handle either of them. Now, I can control them. George and Athena were GREAT.

I have to give a very HUGE shout out to two of your trainers... George Matic and Anthony Ávila. They helped save our little Chewy. When we first got Chewy, he was uncontrollable! Fighting for no reason and bad aggression towards all the other dogs, cats, people... just not a good dog. Never did we think a little, 9-lb. Yorkie could be such a demon dog! We were at our wits' end. Do we find him a new home? Do we trust him around kids? But when he was good, he was so good and loving we knew we had to do something. So we called our Vet, and he suggested George. During the first meeting with George, he got Chewy to sit! We couldn't even get Chewy to sit! We knew right then and there this is what we had to do. He was gone at Anthony's house for about 7 weeks. Came back... and we were in shock! He did a complete 360! We finally had the dog we know he could be! George did so many follow ups with us, and now we have this amazing little dog, and we even started doing the same training on our other dogs. Chewy isn't perfect... but darn near close. We haven't had ONE fight... no food aggression... he just looks at our cats and never chases them or tries to hurt them. He even shares toys now... SHARES! Thank you so much Lorenzo's Dog Training for giving us our dog back. And thank you to George and Anthony for all the hard love you gave Chewy. He is amazing!!!

I can't say enough about George Matic, our dog trainer from Lorenzo's! George worked with us and our dog, Laika, while we were living in Downtown Dallas, Texas, and the results (even 3 years later) are amazing!

People, even complete strangers, will stop and comment on how well trained Laika is. Laika even won some awards from several behavioral course events held at the Purina Headquarters here in St. Louis! The Purina event staff even commented on how well trained Laika is, and it was my sister who lead Laika through the courses since I was out of town on business (I taught my sister Laika's voice commands and hand signals over the phone!)

Lorenzo's was worth every penny spent, as the skills George taught us made all the difference in the world with Laika, and they are skills we can apply to all our pets in the future!

I don't even know where to begin or what words to use that could truly express my gratitude to George and all that he has done for me and my family. Our new puppy, who was supposed to bring fun, happiness, and playfulness to my home, brought division between my husband and me. And it made my current dog miserable. My husband was often frustrated and angry with the puppy, as well as me for bringing him to our once peaceful home. He often told me it was him or the dog... telling me to find him a home. This was heartbreaking.

Here's a little background. I rescued a puppy. He and 4 other puppies were poisoned by the neighbor and were surrendered to the local Vet. One sadly died. My heart went out to them, and always working on emotion, once he recovered, I took home a 9-week-old puppy. I already had a "very well behaved" 3-year-old... or so I thought.

George came to my home and helped me with the new puppy. At that point, we also found a laundry list of issues I had not seen or had a "reasonable" excuse for since he was a rescue.

George came in and explained these are not my "children", nor are they "brothers" and explained how that mindset could set us all up for failure.

Within the first moments of training, I could see such potential in such a little puppy now only 3 1/2 months old. We didn't work much on the dog except for correcting constant growling which I have never heard him do before. My husband attended sessions 2-6, and within no time we had 2 pleasant dogs who are currently quietly laying next to me with no command to do so. Leash training is almost seamless, down-stays are 3-4 hours per day, broken up throughout the day. Dinner time is a pleasure. There are no food aggressions, no digging in the yard, chewing bedposts or molding (yes, that happened), no bolting out of kennels, no running out the exits. People who visit are especially in awe of what a puppy can do. Like them, I had little to no expectations of what a puppy can do with training. I am amazed and thrilled to have dogs that are well behaved.

So in closing, I can only say THANK YOU, LORENZO'S, AND THANK YOU, GEORGE, for a happy, healthy, and well balanced family.

Rocky is a pure breed German Shepherd who was already 1 year old with some inappropriate behaviors that could have ended up out of hand if we hadn't decided to pursue professional training help. We are so fortunate that we found the BEST trainer in Dallas/Fort Worth, Mr. George Matic.

Even so, we aren't first-time dog owners. The classes were probably as much for us as they were for Rocky. George was very experienced, astute, and quickly got me up to speed in understanding how a dog thinks and how to communicate instructions clearly and effectively. George has a real knack for putting difficult concepts into words and then solidifying it with examples or anecdotes that make it memorable.

The experience has been so wonderful for our entire family that we are planning on signing up our 3-year-old Australian Shepherd too as soon as we possibly can. With our hectic working schedules, it isn't always possible to provide the consistent environment and training that our dog requires.

Luckily, we were able to have some private training with George. In just one session module, not only does he undo all the mistakes we have made, but he manages to take our dog to a whole new level of trust and obedience. This is truly phenomenal! We are really thankful to George, and we cannot be more appreciative of his professionalism, devotion, dedication, and individual loving to our Rocky! You won't regret it if you choose to have the experience and training for your dogs! Thanks so much, George, for making a difference in Rocky's life and our lives.
